About Pediatric Gastroenterology

Pediatric Gastroenterology is dedicated to diagnosing and treating children of all ages for a wide variety of problems with the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, liver and biliary system. We also diagnose and treat nutritional disorders.

Our main office is at 503 Grasslands Road, Valhalla, NY. In addition, our physicians care for patients in a network of outreach offices throughout the region. All of our physicians are full-time faculty at New York Medical College and on the medical staff of the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital. We are dedicated to patient care, research and education.

Our team strives to provide education and support to our patients and their families and offers appointment availability within 24 hours.

Conditions we treat

A diverse team of experts

Our group of 14 pediatric gastroenterologists sees patients at 24 convenient locations. We work closely with our skilled team of nutritionists, feeding therapists, allergists, pediatric surgeons and radiologists to deliver state-of-the-art, compassionate care. When needed, we can call on experts in every pediatric sub-specialty.

Continuity of care

We understand the importance of receiving care from the same provider at each appointment, and strive to offer this type of individualized care for our patients. This means your child will see the same doctor in our practice for every visit whenever possible. We also work closely to coordinate care and share information with any other providers your child may see, including his or her primary care provider, to ensure your child receives the most appropriate care at all times.

Our innovation and research

While our main focus is on patient care, we are a group of board-certified academic physicians who provide our patients with the most up-to-date technology, including capsule endoscopy, high-resolution manometry and esophageal impedance testing.

As a group we train future pediatric gastroenterologists and collaborate on a variety of clinical research projects. Our lab explores many aspects of autonomic dysfunction in children, including its relation to the gastrointestinal tract.

Our services

We provide a full range of pediatric gastroenterology services. Our diagnostic center is fully equipped with state-of-the-art endoscopic equipment, allowing for complete evaluation of the upper and lower intestine in an outpatient setting. This enables us to handle endoscopic emergencies, including foreign bodies of the GI tract, esophageal food impactions and gastrointestinal bleeding.

Our physicians are experts in the diagnosis and management of inflammatory bowel disease and we have experience treating many children and adolescents with this disorder. We also treat patients with less common conditions, such as motility disorders of the gastrointestinal tract and short bowel syndrome.

Other services include:

  • acid reflux testing
  • capsule endoscopy
  • colonoscopy
  • control of gastrointestinal bleeding
  • endoscopy
  • esophageal and anorectal manometry
  • hydrogen breath testing for sugar intolerance
  • liver biopsy
  • polypectomy
